Born to a Reagan-era, hunter-gatherer society in Alaska, Kendra picked up the saxophone at age 10, inspired by the iconic styles of Lisa Simpson.

In 1999, she survived the treacherous Alaskan-Canadian Highway and made her way to Oregon to study music. But by 2004, she’d had enough—she bought a one-way ticket to Amsterdam in search of an affordable Master’s degree (and a better life) and has never looked back.
