Having spent her life as “customer support” for people with questions about Alaska (‘Have you seen a bear?’ ‘Is it always dark?’ ‘Is it like the TV show Northern Exposure?’) people are amazed to find out she’s been Dutch for twenty years, lives in Amsterdam (a city also famously baked), and has built an entire life here. But Alaska follows her everywhere. People want the postcard version – moose, northern lights, rugged wilderness – but the real story, why she left, how she ended up in Amsterdam, and whether she misses her family, is way more complicated than you think.
